Holden Daewoo Veritas Review

Holden today unveiled its new export program - Holden Daewoo Veritas, a long wheelbase luxury flagship tailored for the demanding South Korean market. Veritas GM Holden to build a vehicle assembly plant in Elizabeth, South Australia, the Global V6 engine plant and its operations in Port Melbourne, Victoria.Holden Chairman and Managing Director, Mark Reuss, today described the vehicle as a welcome addition to the export portfolio demonstrating the scope of the firm Holden and flexibility.

Reuss was joined by Federal Trade Minister, Hon. Simon Crean MP and Victorian Minister for Industry and Trade, the Hon. Theo Theophanous MLC at a ceremony at GM Holden headquarters in Port Melbourne.Reuss said GM Daewoo had drawn on Australia's experience and resources to a vehicle designed to meet the Korean market.

"Holden develops its large cars to be world class and we find that the payment of dividends to export opportunities for new program announced today," said Reuss.

"Cars we build here in Australia are exported to all continents except Antarctica, including the brands of Holden, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Vauxhall and Holden Daewoo.

Veritas is the second arrangement of Australian exports to vehicles built between GM Daewoo and GM Holden. In 2005, GM Holden exported nearly 2000 of the previous generation WL Statesman to Korea marketed under the GM Daewoo Statesman.

Holden has exported more than 800,000 vehicles since the beginning of its export program in 1954. Holden has exported more vehicles than any other Australian car manufacturer. Currently, exports of vehicles in the United States, Brazil, South Africa, New Zealand, Middle East, Britain and Canada.
